<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus in which a service ID code for receiving a maintenance service is surely registered and which can set and register only a service ID code from a legitimate service center. <P>SOLUTION: When facsimile equipment does not perform a job and receives no key operations, a standby state is displayed on a display part (403) and whether or not an installation provider information is registered is determined (404). Unless the installation provider information is registered, whether the number C of operation days exceeds the number F of operation days for warning is determined (405). When the number C exceeds the number of F of operation days for warning, the display that "Please register an installation provider." is performed on the display part (406) and an operation permission flag G of a facsimile function is set.
