<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-functional member which is produced by bonding functional fine particles firmly to the surface, has a fine particle bonding layer excellent in durability, and maintains the effects of the bonded functional fine particles. <P>SOLUTION: In the surface-functional member, on a support having a surface bonded to a graft polymer chain having nonionic polar groups on side chains, a bonding layer of the fine particles which can bond to the polar groups is formed. A nonionic polar group having a heteroatom such as nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur is used preferably as the polar group.
