PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media converter maintenance system which conducts effective maintenance for media converters connected in multi-stage. SOLUTION: An uppermost media converter 13, out of a plurality of media converters 13, 16, 15, and 12 connected sequentially from upstream to downstream each other, transmits a frame storing an initial value of a count value to the media converter 16 next in downstream. The media converter 16 receives the frame and counts the count value by one, and relays it to downstream further. According to this arrangement, the count value counted by one at the lowermost media converter 12 is changed depending on the number of media converter connected sequentially. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
