The invention relates to a pedal comprising a pedal arm with a first shell body (2) and a second shell body (3), which are connected to one another, a tread surface (4) and a hinge device (5). The aim of the invention is to provide a pedal that is as simple and stable as possible. According to the invention, this is achieved in that at least one of the two shell bodies (2) has an extended flat side forming a tread surface (4). The invention also relates to a method for the production of a pedal by connecting two shell bodies (2, 3) defining a pedal arm. According to the invention, the method makes it possible to produce a stable pedal with little expenditure of labor by connecting both shell bodies (2, 3) by means of clinching.
