New compounds (I) comprise at least one 1-pnicogena-2-oxabicyclo(2.2.1)heptane structure. Independent claims are included for: (1) a catalyst (II) comprising at lest one complex of a Group VIII metal and a ligand comprising at least one compound (I); (2) a process for the hydroformylation of compounds having at least one ethylenically unsaturated double bond by reaction with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst (II).
