The multi-port valve has a return spring(14) to restore the valve spool(8) to its normal position when the control chamber(12) is vented. The return spring interacts with a spring guide assembly located inside a spring chamber(15) between the shut-off element(10) and a guide element(16) on the valve spool in order to prevent transverse forces relative to the axis of the spool. The spring guide assembly comprises a disc-form guide element adjoining the spool and with an annular slot(17) to retain one end of the return spring. The opposite end of the spring is guided through the cylindrically formed shut-off element.
