A toner for electrophotography for use in a method for forming an image using a heating and pressing fixation device equipped with a fixing member having a polybenzimidazole-containing surface layer, characterized in that it comprises a cycloolefin copolymer resin as a binding resin. The cycloolefin copolymer resin preferably is a mixture containing 0 to 75 wt % of a low molecular weight polymer having a weight average molecular weight less than 15,000, 5 to 25 wt % of a middle molecular weight polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 15,000 to 100,000, and 25 to 95 wt % of a high molecular weight polymer having a weight average molecular weight more than 100,000.
