Predicting the genetically determined risk of suffering a chemical-induced disease (A), or diagnosis of (A), in humans comprises determining the allelic status for at least one gene (I) that encodes an enzyme (II) of phases I or II of the human detoxification metabolism. Predicting the genetically determined risk of suffering a chemical-induced disease (A), or for diagnosis of (A), in humans comprises (a) determining the allelic status for at least one gene (I) that encodes an enzyme (II) of phases I or II of the human detoxification metabolism, by a molecular genetics method; (b) determining presence and/or severity of disease symptoms after normal exposure to chemicals and (c) comparing the results of (a) and (b).
