PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera for simply realizing a crime-prevention / supervisory function at a low cost, a control method thereof, a charging base, a control method thereof, a supervisory system and method, and a control program. SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes an imaging section that applies photoelectric conversion to an optical image by a photoelectric conversion element and converts analog image data obtained from the photoelectric conversion element into digital data, records the image data imaged by the imaging section to a recording medium in response to an operation of a prescribed operating unit. The camera also includes: a detection function for detecting that the electronic camera is placed on the charging base; and an imaging start function for starting an imaging operation by the imaging section when the detection function detects that the electronic camera is placed on the charging base in order to utilize the electronic camera and the charging base on which the electronic camera is mounted to charge a built-in battery of the electronic camera, and the charging base is mounted with an attitude control function for controlling the attitude of the charging base in order to change the attitude of the electronic camera mounted on the charging base.
