PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new magnetization fixing means for the base spin valve film of a spin valve transistor. SOLUTION: The spin valve transistor is equipped with a collector or emitter provided with a semiconductor layer, and a base provided with a first magnetic layer having a lattice strain in its surface area adjacent to the semiconductor layer and fixed in magnetization, a second magnetic layer the magnetism of the which changes under an external magnetic field, and a nonmagnetic layer formed between the first and the second magnetic layers.
