SHAPE ANALYZER NOTICING TOPOLOGY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology for realizing efficient retrieval of a three-dimensional (3D) object in a database or the like. SOLUTION: A shape analyzer 10 inputs the 3D data of an object. A point set generator 14 sets points to be noticed on the 3D data. Morse evaluator detects the Morse values of these points and an MRG generator 18 generates a phase graph of multiple resolution in accordance with the detected results. A Morse function is defined so as to be unchangeable against geometric operation of the object, so that the similarity of shapes between objects is calculated independently of the posture of the objects.
