The invention provides a vacuum cleaner (10) having an external surface and incorporating cyclonic separating apparatus (100) comprising a plurality of cyclones (104) arranged in parallel to one another, characterised in that each cyclone (104) has a tapering body (104a) having an outside wall (104b) and in that at least a part (104d) of each outside wall (104b) forms part of the external surface of the vacuum cleaner (10).
