To clear fluid systems of fouling and bio-films, a hot steam generator (1) is used to deliver a hot stream into the water pipe (7) and/or electric arcs are produced in the water pipe by electrodes (16) as sparking plugs, connected to a voltage converter (12). The steamer has an inlet/outlet, a power supply (5) and a valve (3) in the feed channel to a capillary jet (6) in the water pipe. The power supply is switched on and off by a control unit (4).
