A flame-resistant resin composition is prepared for use as a coating material and applied to electrical cables. The resin composition is not crosslinked, and contains no halogen. It is highly formable, flexible, heat-resistant and oil proof. The flame-resistant flexible resin composition at least comprises 100 parts by weight of polymeric materials containing 50 to 90 parts by weight of thermoplastic elastomer comprising a polyolefin segment and a rubber segment in the same molecule, 5 to 25 parts by weight of copolymers comprising ethylene and a vinyl-based compound containing at least one carbonyl group, and 25 parts by weight at the most, excluding zero, of polyolefins having a crystallinity of at least 55 %, and 30 to 200 parts by weight of metal hydroxides the surface of which is not treated with stearic acid.
