The embroidery process involves a number of steps: cutting out a non-elastic auxiliary embroidery base consisting of a water-soluble material; mounting the auxiliary base on the embroidery frame in the usual way; cutting the elastic material to match the shape of the auxiliary; tension-free and stretch-free needling of the elastic material on the frame; embroidering the combination with an elastic or non-elastic thread; and removal of the material combination from the machine and detachment of the auxiliary base in a water-based finishing step.
