<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a resin for an ink having adaptability to lithography, i.e. having such good printability in respect of, for example, pigment dispersion, emulsifying characteristics, misting and dryability as to be comparable to those of previous rosin-modified phenolic resins without using a resol phenolic resin manufactured by using formaldehyde or the like undesirable from environmental and hygienic viewpoints. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the resin comprises reacting a resin composition consisting of 10-70 wt.% of a hydrocarbon resin (a) represented by the general formula (wherein H is a hydrogen atom; R is a 1-3C alkyl group; and m and n are each an integer of 0 to 6, provided m+n=6) and 30-90 wt.% of a resin acid (b) with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride, and subjecting the reaction product to esterification with a long-chain aliphatic alcohol. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
