<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel-made hat type forming member capable of stably absorbing shaft compression energy and having excellent axial crush resistant characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: Preferably, this forming member has the following (1) to (2) characteristics. (1) It has axial crush resistant characteristic and has member corner parts which pass a central part in the direction of width of a member upper face and form a pair relative to a vertical face on an upper face and a plurality of sets of quenched hardened regions composed of each of a part of an upper face and a side face nipping the corner parts intermittently in the longitudinal direction of the member. (2) It is more preferable that width in the longitudinal direction of the member of the quenched hardened regions forming a pair of the plurality of sets existent intermittently is sequentially increased from a collision end side where impact load acts to the other end side. Since it has excellent axial crush resistant characteristic for absorbing axial compression energy stably, it can be used as a member for an automobile, in particular, a front side member, a rear side member, and an extension member of them. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
