PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly reproduce data irrespective of the reproducing method. SOLUTION: A sub-data controller 28 stores video sub-data corresponding to PTSs of images that a video data controller 23 may designate in a sub-data buffer 29. The controller 23 designates a present data to be shown on a display 27 among the video data stored in the buffer 24, instructs a video decoder 25 to do this, and outputs its PTS being a value uniquely identifying the designated present image to a sub-data selector 30. The selector 30 retrieves the data buffer 29 to acquire sub-data corresponding to the PTS of the present image, based on the PTS of an edition unit containing the PTS of the present image.
