PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality color image forming apparatus that makes long the life of an image carrier for color and makes small color deviation. SOLUTION: When a photoconduction drum 4 other than black is alienated from a transfer belt 3 in the output of a black-and-white image, the nip of a resist roller 7 is arranged at a position near a straight line L1 where a straight line for connecting a transfer nip of a photoconduction drum 1 at the uppermost stream side in the output of a color image to a paper suction section nip is extended to an upper stream side as compared with a straight line L2 where a straight line for connecting a black transfer nip to the paper suction section nip is extended to the upper stream side.
