PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) produced in barley gene, and to provide a method for utilizing the same.
SOLUTION: Large amounts of cDNA clones originating from kinds of barley:'H. spontaneum', 'Sekishinryoku', and 'Haruna Nijo' are sequenced, and a non-synonymous permutaion SNP in a single nucleotide polymorphism-recognized site (SNP), is found among the kinds. The non-synonymous permutaion SNP has high possibility to participate in a phenotype characteristic to the kind and can thereby be utilized for various uses. For example, an oligonucleotide produced from the region containing the non-synonymous permutaion SNP, can be utilized as a tool for judging the base of the polymorphism existing on the gene of the barley, thereby enabling the genetical identification of the kind, the judgment of the type of the gene, and the like. Further, the oligonucleotide can be used as a probe for isolating a gene or detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism to produce and screen a new transformant.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
