PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the rough rolling method for the shaped steel which can control an elongated bellows-like shape produced at the end portion of a rolled material in the last rolling stage following the rough rolling or in the intermediate rolling stage preceding the last rolling stage. SOLUTION: In the rolling method which produces a shaped steel product by rolling a workpiece having rectangular section, the rough rolling process which can perform at least more than single pass level rolling and cross direction rolling is provided and, by estimating an ideal end shape in the rough rolling process from a difference in rolling reduction applied to each section of the rolled material in the shape rolling following the rough rolling process, the rough rolling is performed so that the workpiece may have such ideal end shape as is estimated.
