An image coding method codes regions in accordance with information of border lines between regions, instead of the peripheral line information for each region. More specifically, this method comprises, for instance, a step of scanning an image in a given direction, a step of detecting points constituting a boundary between regions and resting on the scanning line, and a step of joining the detected border points to creat a border line. In this case, "boundary between regions" includes all the boundaries amoung the regions formed by dividing the image by any method. |
