A robot system including an autonomously traveling robot and an autonomously traveling robot. In a system for moving an autonomously traveling robot along a predetermined route and monitoring it, the time between the moment an image transmission is requested and the moment when the image is received is reduced. The autonomously traveling robot moves along a predetermined route each time a predetermined timing is reached. While the robot is moving along the predetermined route, a camera picks up the image each time a predetermined position is reached. The image picked up by the camera is stored and upon reception of transmission request from a cellular telephone or the like, the stored image is transmitted to the cellular telephone or the like of a user who has made the transmission request.
