A flood protection system for buildings and for show windows has a support framework set up at a spacing from the building. The framework is assembled from steel and/or aluminium sections and the apertures in the framework are fitted with pressure resistant plastic panels. The panels have inflatable tubes around their perimeter, and which hold the panels securely in the frames when inflated. A porous strip is clamped compressed between the bottom of the frame and the ground to provide a seal when wet. The upper part of the frame is braced on the building at each side of the window.
