摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which shortens recovery time from an energy-saving mode, improves energy consumption efficiency, and, further, improves consumption power in a low power mode as time setting for a low power mode can be shortened. <P>SOLUTION: An input current threshold is set in advance. An input current detected by an input voltage/current detection means 12 is input to a drive/control part 3 from an input power calculation control means 13 as input current data. The drive/control part 3 compares the data with the threshold set in advance. If the data is equal to or lower than the threshold, the part 3 outputs the charging quantity control signal to a rectifying/charging means 8 so that an equivalent to an input current corresponding to the difference is charged. The rectifying/charging means 8 calculates and sets charging current for charging the equivalent to the input current and then charges an electric double-layer capacitor 10 with a constat current. When detecting a current exceeding the threshold, the drive/control part 3 immediately transmits a charging stop signal to the rectifying/charging means 8.
