<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is better in a display grade at an oblique visual angle. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 has a liquid crystal layer 32 which is formed by applying perpendicular alignment layers on the surfaces of substrates 31a and 32a and includes liquid crystals having negative dielectric constant anisotropy, polarizing elements 5a and 5b which are arranged on both sides of the liquid crystal layer 32, and phase differential films 7a and 7b which are disposed between both the polarizing elements 5a and 5b. The device performs black display in a state in which liquid crystal molecules are aligned approximately perpendicularly to the substrates 31a and 31b. The substrate 31a is provided with a plurality of pixel electrodes 33 and a plurality of projections 34 are disposed on the respective pixel electrodes 33. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
