PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of treating soot and dust, a black pigment and a master batch, in which useless work and cost are not required for discarding the soot and dust, the soot and dust can advantageously be utilized and an amount of industrial waste can be reduced. SOLUTION: The method is applied to treatment of the soot and dust generated by burning an object to be burnt, and it includes using the soot and dust as a starting material of a black pigment to treat the soot and dust (Step 1-Step 8). According to the method, the soot and dust which has hitherto been discarded as an industrial waste can be used in place of carbon used in a conventional black pigment, and thus no useless work nor cost is required for discarding the soot and dust and an amount of the industrial waste can be reduced.
