Expanding post-embryonal stem cells, useful for therapeutic transplantation, by growing in presence of modified glycan to inhibit differentiation

Isolation, enrichment and/or selective replication of post-embryonal stem cells (A) while avoiding their differentiation comprising growing them in a medium that contains a modified glycan (I) and/or glycosaminoglycan (GAG), is new. In at least one monomer unit of (I) and/or GAG, the C2 sidechain is modified and the C6 sidechain carries a negative charge, so that a defined ratio of hydrophilic to hydrophobic sidechains is established.
