INK SET, IMAGE FORMATION METHOD, RECORDING UNIT, AND INK JET RECORDING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink set which can form a high-grade color image having a high density, excellent rubbing resistance, and marker resistance and reduced in bleed at the boundary among images of different colors and to provide articles related thereto.

SOLUTION: The ink set has a first ink and a second ink of a color different from that of the first ink and forms an image from these inks. The first ink contains a modified pigment prepared by chemically bonding organic groups to the surfaces of pigment particles. The organic groups contain a reaction product of functional groups chemically bonded to the surfaces directly or through other atomic groups with a copolymer of an ionic monomer with a hydrophobic monomer. The second ink is a water-based ink which contains a colorant and worsens the dispersion stability of the pigment in the first ink when mixed with the first ink.
