PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston position detecting device mounted on the side opposite to an acting portion side of a hydrostatic actuator. SOLUTION: The hydrostatic actuator 11 controls a position of a piston 15 arranged in a casing 13. The piston position detecting device 10 detects a piston position of the hydrostatic actuator 11 having an acting part side end surface through which the acting part 17 is protruded from the casing 13 and the non-acting part end surface opposite to the end surface. The piston position detecting device 10 is equipped with a movable part 29 arranged on the non-acting part end surface so as to be passed through a hole 31 provided to the casing 13 and brought into contact with the piston 15, a means 45 for maintaining the contact between the movable part 29 and the piston 15, a cap 27 mounted on the casing 13 by covering the hole 31 and including the movable part 29, and a movable part position detecting means 43 for detecting a position of the movable part 29.
