PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely operate a conveyer by increasing engine speed at a time of actual operation of the conveyer without unnecessarily increasing engine speed at a time of conveyer stop in an engine control device for an asphalt finisher. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an engine driving a hydraulic pump supplying hydraulic fluid to a hydraulic motor for a plied timber supply conveyer, an engine control means 20 controlling the engine, and a conveyer operation detection means 31 detecting actual operation conditions of the plied timber supply conveyer based on operation relation parameters. The engine control means 20 switches the engine to a high output condition when the conveyer operation detection means 31 detects start of the plied timber supply conveyer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
