PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method capable of inexpensively, simply and in a high yield synthesizing a compound useful as photographic couplers, photographic additives, medicines, dyes and agrochemicals or their intermediates and having not less than two alkoxycarbonyl groups in the molecule, especially a diester of azole dicarboxylic acid. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the compound having at least two alkoxycarbonyl groups in the molecule, alcohols and thionyl chloride are mixed, then a compound having at least two carboxy groups in the molecule is added.
