OBJECT DETECTION METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detection method that provides high reliability by canceling mask areas appropriately while reducing an operator's burden, relating to a monitoring device which uses an imaging apparatus.

SOLUTION: Based on a number allocated to each mask area when the mask areas are set, the mask areas are canceled in reverse order of setting masks, or the mask areas with the numbers not less than a designated number are canceled at the same time. This makes it possible to cancel the mask areas appropriately while reducing the operator's burden.
