<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge for eliminating and recovering the remaining transfer developer using a developer charge quantity control means which can be transferred in the longitudinal direction of an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constituted so as to satisfy relations of L1 + d≤L2≤L5-d, L1 + 2 x d≤L3≤L5, L1 + 2 x d≤L4 when length of a developer carrier part G of a developing means 4 is defined as L1, length of an operating part of the developer charge quantity control means 6 is defined as L2, length of an operating part of a charging means 2 is defined as L3, length of an operating part of a transfer means 92 is defined as L4, length of a chargeable part of the image carrier 1 is defined as L5 and transfer width of the developer charge quantity control means 6 is defined as d, in the direction approximately in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the image carrier 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
