WATER-BASED INK, METHOD FOR INKJET RECORDING, INK CARTRIDGE, INKJET RECORDING UNIT AND INKJET RECORDING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-based pigment ink affording images having improved fretting resistance for printing stains and marker resistance for the printing stains while eliminating jetting bending or wet nonjetting and having reliability of the ink for a recording head especially when used for inkjet recording.

SOLUTION: The water-based ink comprises a modified pigment having organic groups chemically bound to the surfaces of pigment particles and an aqueous medium as a dispersion medium for the pigment. The organic groups contain a reaction product of functional groups bound directly or chemically through other atomic groups to the surfaces of the pigment with a copolymer. Furthermore, the copolymer is composed of at least an ionic monomer, a hydrophobic monomer and a polyfunctional monomer having at least ≥2 polymerizable double bonds. A method for inkjet recording and a recording apparatus, etc., are provided.
