<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half-bridge inverter system that operates at a high power factor. <P>SOLUTION: The inverter system includes a rectifier power source 10 that rectifies the voltage of an AC power supply 11, an auxiliary inductor 20, a filtering capacitor 30 to be connected to the rectifier power source 10 via the auxiliary inductor 20, a pair of switching devices 71, 72 connected in forward series controlled so that the devices are alternately turned on and off, and flywheel diodes 81, 82 connected in reverse parallel with the respective switching devices 71, 72. Circuits of both of these devices 71, 72 are connected in such a manner as the voltage of the rectifier power source 10 is applied in a forward direction. At an intersection of both of the devices 71, 72, an inductive load 60 connecting its end is provided, while at the other end of the inductive load 60, a first auxiliary capacitor 40 connected to an intersection of the auxiliary inductor 20 and the smoothing capacitor 30, and a second auxiliary capacitor 50 straddling the auxiliary inductor 20 and the first auxiliary capacitor 40 are provided.
