<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the storage capacity required for storing respective image data in an electronic apparatus for storing compressed image data. <P>SOLUTION: A mobile phone (1) for compressing image data in compliance with the JPEG (joint picture expert group) system is provided with a memory (22) for storing a Huffman table used for a coding stage, and by using the Huffman table stored in the memory (22), encodes the image data and excludes the Huffman table from parameters stored together with the image data. In the case of decompression being reverse processing of the compression, the mobile phone uses the Huffman table stored in the memory (22) to decode the image data. The mobile phone generates image data of thumbnail pictures reducing pictures from the image data and applies the processing above to the image data of the thumbnail pictures. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
