WAVEGUIDE OPTICAL ELEMENT HAVING OPTICAL OUTPUT CONTROL FUNCTION AND ITS OPTICAL OUTPUT CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide optical element by which optical output control is possible without requiring a complicated mechanism such as a branching device and an optical signal and to provide its optical output control method.

SOLUTION: In the waveguide optical element having an optical output control function, a heater 4 is provided on an upper part of a core 6 and a temperature measurement member 8 is arranged on a lower part of the core 6. Optical output is controlled by feeding an electric signal from the temperature measurement member 8 back to a temperature control circuit of the heater 4.
