PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform contrast emphasis in a part of a photographed image to obtain the photographed image wherein a dynamic range is wide in a peripheral portion and contrast is emphasized in a central portion even in an image sensor having logarithmic output characteristics. SOLUTION: In the image sensor wherein a sensor current to flow to a photoelectric transducer is outputted with logarithmic characteristics while being weakly inverted in accordance with a quantity of incident light in photographing and a drain voltage of a transistor is switched and initialized to a value lower than an ordinary value before photographing, a power supply line for supplying the drain voltage to a transistor for logarithmic characteristic conversion for each pixel in a pixel stream arranged for one line in a main scan direction is laid out parallel with a power supply line for supplying a gate voltage to the transistor and a pixel away from the side of power source ON has linear output characteristics when the quantity of incident light is less than a fixed level, or has logarithmic output characteristics when the quantity of incident light is equal with or more than the fixed level.
