PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent separation failure and suppress deterioration in durability and service life of each roller due to high-speed sheet feeding. SOLUTION: Stable paper feeding operation without slippage generation between the sheet and a feed roller 51 in starting paper feed is possible by slowing the drive of the feed roller 51 even if the sheet feeding speed speeds up. The shock at the time of gear engaging is reduced by stopping a stepping motor M1 when the gear part 80d of a control gear 80 engages with a drive gear 65. Since the load of the stepping motor can be reduced thereby, a stepping motor having small rating torque can be used to reduce costs and a space. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
