摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-lead type piezoelectric ceramic that has high performance and a high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic is characterized in that the preparation proportion of the starting material is determined so that B site element (Nb<SB>1-z</SB>Ta<SB>z</SB>) is present in an amount excess to A site element (K<SB>x</SB>Na<SB>1-x</SB>) of a perobskite compound and that a by-product such as K<SB>a</SB>Cu<SB>b</SB>Nb<SB>c</SB>O<SB>d</SB>and K<SB>a</SB>Cu<SB>b</SB>Ta<SB>c</SB>O<SB>d</SB>is produced by causing the excessive B site element to react with Cu at the time of calcination because CuO is also added at the time of mixing. Therefore, at the time of burning, the by-product suppresses the melting of (K<SB>x</SB>Na<SB>1-x</SB>)(Nb<SB>1-z</SB>Ta<SB>z</SB>)O<SB>3</SB>and the abnormal growth of the particle, thereby accelerating the sintering. Thus, the incovenience such as the volatilization of alkaline components and the melting of KNbO<SB>3</SB>is suppressed and the sintering density is enhanced, in turn the piezoelectric properties are enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
