<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for dry mouth having excellent activities for the increase of an amount of saliva in the oral cavity of a patient suffering from the dry mouth, the increase of resistivity of the saliva against decayed tooth, the amelioration of periodontal diseases, and the like. <P>SOLUTION: This composition for the dry mouth contains a lactic bacterium and xylitol as active ingredients. The lactic bacterium is Lactobacillus salivarius. Live lactic bacteria (e.g. the live bacterial cells, wet bacteria and dried bacteria), a cultured product of the lactic bacteria (bacterial cells, supernatant of cultured liquid and medium components) can be used appropriately. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
