PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer text data to a desired telephone terminal via a telephone line without using a modem or a terminal adapter personal computer. SOLUTION: The telephone terminal is provided with a handset 32 for performing voice communications, an LCD 34 capable of displaying the text data at least, a CPU 40 for displaying an auto-dial information picture or a mail picture for transmitting the text data for a telephone connection to the LCD 34, and a keyboard for inputting the text data and transmission destination information according to the display of the mail picture. The display picture for text data transmission is displayed on the LCD 34 to input the text data and the transmission destination information from the keyboard 33, and a message including the inputted text data and transmission destination information is transmitted to the side of a telephone exchange device.
