PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient method for finding a relative volatilityαof a first compound to a second compound in a mixture containing two or more types of compounds. SOLUTION: The measuring method comprises establishing a gas-liquid balanced condition by boiling the mixture containing two or more types of compounds, filling a gas phase condensate and a liquid phase into a chromatograph, separately, measuring the peak area of each compound in each of the gas phase condensate and the liquid phase, and calculating the relative volatilityαof the first compound to the second compound from the following equation (1). The equation (1) expresses the relative volatilityαasα=(Ay<SB>1</SB>/Ax<SB>1</SB>)/(Ay<SB>2</SB>/Ax<SB>2</SB>), where Ax<SB>1</SB>is the peak area of the first compound in the liquid phase, Ax<SB>2</SB>is the peak area of the second compound in the liquid phase, Ay<SB>1</SB>is the peak area of the first compound in the gas phase condensate, and Ay<SB>2</SB>is the peak area of the second compound in the gas phase condensate.
