<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform predetermined delicate scribing in accordance with the wear state of the blade tip of the mechanical scriber so as to optimize separation of each cell in a thin film solar cell module. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanical scribing apparatus is composed of a scribing means, a measuring means and a control means. In the scribing means, a blade having a cylindrical body with a tapered and thinned tip with a specified tapered angle and with a flat top end is pressed perpendicular to the scribing position of the objective surface under predetermined pressure and moved along the objective surface to scribe. The size of the flat part at the blade tip is measured by the measuring means.
