PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide band ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) light source, high in the output and stabilized in the output of wide band thereof. SOLUTION: The wide band ASE light source is constituted of an excitation light source, an erbium loading optical fiber generating the ASE light by the incidence of the excitation light, a reflecting means arranged at one end of the erbium loading optical fiber to reflect one part/or all of the ASE light emitted from the erbium loading optical fiber, a light multiplexer/demultiplexer for multiplexing or demultiplexing the excitation light and the ASE light, and a light isolator for removing returning light to the erbium loading optical fiber. In such a wide band ASE light source, the central wavelength of oscillation of the excitation light source is specified so as to be 1471-1487nm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
