PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated pipe with a foam layer highly expanded uniformly on the outer periphery of a pipe and a method for efficiently manufacturing the coated pipe by which the uniformly highly expanded foam layer is formed on the outer periphery of the pipe and a skin layer is laminated on the outer periphery. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the coated pipe comprises a slitting step of continuously slitting a foamed tube longitudinally while supplying the foamed tubes which become the foam layer in succession, a pipe inserting step of inserting the pipe into the foamed tube from the slit while expanding the diameter of the slit foamed tube, a foamed tube diameter contracting step of contracting the diameter of the foamed tube into which the pipe is inserted and a skin layer forming step of forming the skin layer on the outer periphery of the foamed tube with the contracted diameter into which the pipe is inserted.
