PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce average power consumption consumed by the detection of remaining capacity. SOLUTION: A remaining capacity detecting device 1 comprises a current detecting unit 20 for detecting current flowing in an auxiliary power source 200 and a voltage detection unit 30 for detecting inter-electrodes voltage of the auxiliary power source 200. The remaining capacity detecting device 1 calculates an internal impedance R of the auxiliary power source 200, using detected values of each unit 20 and 30, when the auxiliary power source 200 is electrically connected with a self device 1, and estimates the remaining capacity of the auxiliary power source 200 as the initial remaining capacity. Then, the remaining capacity detecting device 1 calculates the period between the initial remaining capacity of the auxiliary power source 200 and a remaining capacity which is regarded as being insufficient, and inhibits detection of remaining capacity, until the above period is elapsed.
