PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply sufficient oil to each part of variable compression ratio mechanism under a high load condition while inhibiting surplus oil supply under a low load condition. SOLUTION: Oil is supplied from an oil passage in a bearing cap connected to a bearing beam oil gallery 33, to an oil passage 36 of a control link 6 and an oil injection port 37 via an oil passage 35 inside of a control shaft 7. The rotation position of the control shaft 7 is controlled to maintain a low compression ratio under a high load condition and a high compression ratio at a low load condition. Connection of the oil passages 34, 35 or connection between the oil passages 35, 36 is switched under a high load condition and allow load condition to regulate oil supply quantity by using rotation of the control shaft 7.
