PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium satisfying properties of fast response, safety and hygiene, and stability of the picture quality, and to provide an image display apparatus using the image display medium at a low cost. SOLUTION: The display liquid for an electrophoretic display apparatus contains one kind of chargeable fine particles comprising a resin and a coloring agent, and an electric insulating solvent. The chargeable fine particles show a plurality of peaks in the distribution of the particle size in the range from 0.01 to 100μm measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method. In the peaks in the particle size distribution, one peak is present in the range from 0.04 to 0.3μm. Thereby, the fine particles hardly aggregating and having a fast electrophoretic velocity are used to prepare the display liquid for an electrophoretic display apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
